The Crickets Sing You Lullaby

imageHi Everyone.
Yesterday evening, I gave a Masterclass in Singing and Sound Healing in Dublin, as part of my initiative to bring hope at a time when many are in difficulty. It was my contribution to World Mental Health week. During the class, I emphasised the importance of self expression, and for me, Singing is such a powerful tool, as it engages every part of the self- the physical, emotional, mental, etheric.
In Ireland, we have a song called the Gartan Mother’s Lullaby and one of the lines of the text reads “The crickets sing you lullaby, beside the dying fire”. In another well known Irish song, “My Lagan Love”, the words refer to the “cricket’s singing stone”. Irish music and literature is rich in the mystical and magical in life.
All of nature, expresses through song and when I first really understood the words of these songs, I remembered a time when we were so at one with ourselves and nature that we could literally hear the Song of the Earth and all its inhabitants as music. Even speech, to me, is a form of song. If we slowed down the tones we engage, we will hear our words as music. It is perhaps, for this reason that opera was born. The recitative in opera is designed as narrative, to let the audience know what is happening in terms of the plot.
I came across this incredible recording of cricket song, slowed down to a point where it can be heard as a full chorus singing in praise of All That Is. I hope you enjoy it.
